CAPTAINS & UMPIRES MEETINGS 2023

As a result of discussions at recent league executive and management committee meetings, and following the Premier panel umpires meeting, it has been decided to hold a series of pre-season captains and umpires forums.

These will be held regionally at 3 CCCL clubs as follows:

• West Region:               Thurs 30^th March at Chester Boughton Hall CC:
• Central Region:           Tues 4^th April at Toft CC
• East Region:               Wed 5th April at Timperley CC

Meetings start at 7.30pm.

The purpose of the meetings is through constructive dialogue to develop and enhance the sound relationship which already exists between umpires, captains and players.

The meetings themselves are intended to be informal and whilst there is no plan to follow a specific agenda, areas for discussion will include:       

·      New Laws

·      Captains Assessments -  see attached.

·      Discipline

·      Over rates

·      Player registration

The Cricket Committee have concluded that attendance is mandatory with the clear preference that the 1^st XI captain should represent their club. Should the captain be unavailable, we would suggest that the vice captain, and/or senior playing member should attend. 

Chairman of the Association Martin Roberts will chair the meeting, together with other Premier Panel umpires, and members of the League Cricket Committee.

With the start of the 2023 season fast approaching, and the need for us to accommodate 48 captains, clubs must adhere to the date/venue they have been assigned. The venues have been chosen in line with suitability, availability, and where possible, proximity to each of the 16 clubs.
