Congleton secure 2nd successive promotion

By brian birtles

A nervous wait for the South Cheshire side after they beat Northwich by 173 runs

Congleton picked up the Division 2 trophy on Saturday as they topped the table, just 2 points ahead of runners up Warrington. They returned to the CCCL at the end of the 2018 season after finishing runners up to Stockport Georgians in the UKFast CCL

After Tom Blease' first century of the season (114*) they dismissed Northwich for 59 (John Copeland 4/9 0ff 3 overs)

An anxious wait then as the Warrington v Lindow game went down to the last over, with Lindow's 4 wicket win denying Warrington the title and necessitating a cross county dash by the League Chairman to present the Bloor Trophy to club chair, Grace Evans.
